Mamalette Live! 2018 Was A Success.
Mamalette Live! has become a symbolic event that brings together mothers and mothers to be together to talk about critical issues that affect their health and family life.
This years’ Mamalette Live! was themed ‘Building Healthy Communities: One mother at a time’ was a special edition with a full tilt from parenting to maternal and infant health. These came on the heels of the need to stem the tide of maternal and infant mortality that is on the increase in Nigeria.
The focus of the Mamalette Live! 2018 was to inform, educate and enlighten mothers and fathers. In celebrating motherhood, the different areas that affect the health and the wellbeing of mothers and children were discussed at length.
Due to the uniqueness of the Mamalette Live! event, a number of brands were present at the event. Every brands and partners see it as an opportunity to reach out to the teeming number of women ‘Mamalettes’ who are their target audience. These companies exhibit and even pitch their products to the people who may be interested in their products.
On 17th of November 2018, the sixth edition of Mamalette Live took place at Grace Schools, Gbagada Phase 1, Lagos. With over 500+ adults and children, consisting of pregnant women, mothers, mothers-to-be, fathers were present to glean from the wealth of knowledge of the experts invited from the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, reproductive health, paediatrics etc. All attendees benefited from the 5 sessions held on the day.
There was an array of A-list speakers and experts consisting of 11 medical doctors, 3 nurses, 3 public health experts and 5 Mamalette champions.
They spoke on different but related topics namely; ‘A Season For Motherhood: Role Of Family Planning In Improving Maternal Health, Nutrition: Maternal And Early Years, Correcting Myths And Misconceptions On Maternal Health, Developmental Milestones In Children, Building Healthy Communities: Mamalette Champions Success Stories’.
Attendees got a truckload of empowering information and guidance that changed their perception about many things they believed in, as regards maternal and infant health.
Our partner Post Partum Support Network was there to provide free post-partum depression screening for attendees and Sebeecly Cancer Care provided free breast cancer and cervical cancer screening.
The highlight of Mamalette Live 2018 was the Health Champions panel discussion that focused on the Mamalette Champions sharing how impactful their work has been in the fight against maternal and infant mortality in their communities.
Distinguished Mamalette Champions got certificates and awards for the efforts with working with pregnant women and mothers in their communities.
