Benefits Of Finding Out The Gender Of Your Baby

Editorial Team

When I had my first baby, I remember how excited I was to find out the sex of my baby, I think for me finding out the sex of my baby was part of the highlight of my baby. The anticipation to find out the sex was another thing entirely.

Finding out that I was going to be having a girl was like the happiest day of my life, lol. I could almost imagine her cute little face, how she would probably take my eyes and her daddy’s mouth(she turned out to be her dad’s twin).

I don't think I would have to been able to handle any suspense or wait to give birth before finding out the sex of my baby and I applaud the people that do it. My sister on the other hand was adamant about waiting until her baby was born to find out the sex of her baby. Even me that was not carrying the baby was dying of suspense to find out the sex of her baby.

While finding out the sex of your baby is a personal decision, I am happy I found out early for many reasons

  • It made me more excited about my pregnancy. Believe me when I say pregnancy can be very beautiful and hard all at the same time, from morning sickness to back pains to constantly having to pee. After I found out the sex of my baby it honestly made all the symptoms more bearable to me. I knew I was bringing a little girl into this world and it just always made me excited even during the hard times.
  • As a control freak, pregnancy made me realize that I didn’t have that much control over my body and so I needed  to have control over something that was happening at that moment. Being able to pick out dresses, bodysuits, shoes, sandals and every other thing with a picture in my head helped me.
  • Picking out names was another highlight, of course you can always pick a name but knowing the sex and picking out the name was exciting. Even before I got married, I already had names for my children and so even before finding out the sex of my baby, my hubby and I had already started arguing about names to give our baby. Find out the sex of our baby made the process more fun for us.
  • It also gave me a deeper connection to my baby than before, I could already picture us doing our hair, painting our nails and gisting about different things. It made me more adjusted to the fact that I was going to be having a girl that was going to be a serious daddy’s girl.

The decision to know or not know the sex of your baby before delivery is a personal one and so go with whatever works best for you. I am happy I found out the sex of my baby before my delivery and my sister is also happy she waited.
