Pregnancy Week 11

Your baby this week

Your baby is now fully formed and with all organ systems in place, week 11 begins the period of rapid growth. Over the next three weeks, your baby will double in size. Your fetus is now about 1.6 inches long and weighs about 7 grams. Your baby is now the size of a lime.

Your baby is kicking and stretching at this stage. The ears are moving up to the side of the head and the reproductive organs are developing quickly. By the end of the week, a more recognisible penis or clitoris will have appeared.

Your body this week

You are now getting close to the end of the first trimester and you will start to see some slight physical changes taking place. While you may not have gained much weight, you may start to notice the bump in your abdomen.
You may also notice that a dark vertical line that has started forming on your abdomen. This line called the Linea Nigra, travels from your pelvic bone up your abdomen and can go all the way to your belly button.
Other symptoms you might notice this week include;
  • Hunger
  • Fatigue and nausea
  • Mood swings
  • Leg cramps
  • Difficulty sleeping
